Luminary

One of the greatest joys I experience as a photographer is in learning to see light.  It requires that I pay attention and show up to locations and times that may produce a kind of magical quality of light on a subject. It also requires, like Up Close photography, that I remain curious and alert to possibilities that are motivated by finding or discovering the beautiful. Luminary photographs in this collection ask me to find qualities of light in a photograph that are not always obvious. If patient enough, I might spot a reflection that I would otherwise walk by; or a bounce of light on the beach that could be missed because I was watching the sunset.
